Migrating Birds using Federation Walk
We have been lucky to have some amazing researchers conducting bird surveys and banding in Federation Walk Coastal Reserve.
Research of this nature is very important to track how the birds are using the area, how many are staying on site (and maybe breeding) and how migrant birds use Federation Walk.
This week we have an exciting addition to the birds recorded in the reserve – Azure Kingfisher!
These amazing little birds can be found nearby at Coombabah, but they haven’t been recorded at the Spit before.
Another sign of how special this area is and how different species are finding Federation Walk an attractive home!
